Walk In The Imagination

From the arch in Bournemouth Town Centre to a gravelly walk with a pair of Dubarry shoes.

So how was it done?

The Arches in Bournemouth

One morning in Feb 2020 I was going to get some breakfast in McDonalds. I took this picture of the arches and clock in Old Christchurch Road. It is right outside the arcade and just down from Beales (now closed - as of May 2020)

A Bunch of Shoes

The image was manipulated using PhotoScape X with simple filters. Taking this photo, I printed it out and cut out the arch with the pillars. I re-photographed it with a bunch of shoes.

I wanted to get some strange contrast with interesting objects, shapes and colours, but also throw some things together and see where the idea goes!

Stones and gravel

After some re-filtering Stage 2 was printed out and I went out the back of my flat. There is some gravel in an old flower bed which could produce an interesting contrast. I cut the picture up so that the images of the shoes could be placed and I reused the arch so it created an extended tunnel. The filtering changed the colours of the arches which produced an interesting effect.

Creating a layered view with grass

Stage 3 was filtered and re-printed. I cut this image again and took a picture on the grass at the back of the flat.

To Finish

Again I revisited the gravel, this time adding another shoe on top (Dubarry deck shoe) with some gravel to create that layer on layer view. The image has a more traditional vertical perspective than Butterfly Adventure but it seemed to fit. I also couldn't really go out on long walks as we were still under Covid-19 lockdown.
